Have you had a chance to explore Pottermore yet? I have been pouring through it for the last couple of weeks and was inspired to do a little self portrait. Done with markers and cut paper.
I have some exciting news to share this week! The local newspaper puts out a free publication called Be True and the spring edition featured some accessories from the Plaid Peacock. They picked two of mine, numbers 10 and 11.
For my brother's birthday I designed and spray painted a rampant lion to a Masterlock file box. My lion is based on the one depicted on the Royal Standard of Scotland.
The challenge was to take an existing character and draw them as the opposite gender.
I tried a different technique with this one. I inked the drawing by hand and colored it with gray scale markers. Then I scanned it and added the color in photoshop. It is probably not something I would do again in the near future because it was about twice as much work as just coloring it with colored markers in the first place. I do like how it turned out though.
This is a blog for my many artistic endeavors. I majored in animation at the Kansas City Art Institute but I really do enjoy many different kinds of art. Currently I am working at a small frame shop here in my hometown of Waterloo IA as well as doing some freelance illustration.
