Studio Update

I am always interested to see other people's works spaces and I thought you might too. Remember that work bench I made last year? I am now quite settled in. You can also see part of the second work bench that we made for Richard. It wasn't quite as complicated because we didn't need to fit a flat file in it.

And of course our dutiful helper Oliver Wiskers in her favorite spot, right in front of where I am trying to work.

Cat Sheep Friend

When I was little my two favorite animals were cats and sheep. I would have loved to take a ride on a majestic creature such as this, as a matter of fact I still would.

I am trying to get back into some digital illustration. I created the line work traditionally and the coloring and textures were added in Photoshop.

Post It Sketch 1

I have been struggling to get some drawing time in now that I'm literally working four part time jobs. So I have been trying to doodle during my lunch breaks on these post it notes. Then I have been finishing them at home.

The Dragon is marker, ink, and white gel pen. (Drawn around the same time we were making the dragon head for the parade) 
The Blue monster I experimented with painting with acrylics.
The Cat Sheep is marker and colored pencil. 
And Oliver from Packrats is colored pen and marker.

How To Build a Dragon Part One

My Waterloo Days is an annual festival here in Waterloo Iowa to celebrate Waterloo's cultural and recreational opportunities and every year my mom's school, Kittrell Elementary, participates in the parade. The theme for this year is Party 'Loo Style and the parade committee for this year only consisted of my mom (Linda Harris), Richard and I so we made a dragon. How do you make a dragon you say? 

Well let me show you. 

We started by looking up some reference on google of traditional chinese dragons and lions and then I made some sketches of how we generally wanted it to look.

The next thing we did was wander around the hardware store and find dragon supplies. We ended up with zip ties, hula hoops, garden sprinkler hose, and an exercise ball.

 We did many paper mache layers.
